Impact of social, personal factors on the dietary pattern of children in villages of Kanti Block of Muzaffarpur District

Abstract:
This paper aim to study how various factors such as socioeconomic status, parental education, family structure and cultural practices influences dietary habits of children. A self-structured interview schedule and 24 hours dietary recall was used to collect dietary information of the respondents. It was found that total 121 (60.50%) respondent's dietary pattern were affected by social factors and total 117 (58.50%) were affected by personal factors. Illiteracy rate of parent also affected children's dietary behaviour that was 156 (78%) Nearby 4/5th of the respondents mother that is 78.5 percent said that poverty affect their children dietary behaviour. The study suggests that both social and personal factors are related to dietary pattern of children.
