Author(s): R Pragadheeswari and K Christie Jennifer
Abstract:
The use of textile materials has significantly transformed the footwear industry, bringing advancements in performance, comfort, aesthetics, and environmental responsibility. A wide range of textile fabrics, including natural, synthetic, and blended varieties, are now utilized across different components of footwear. These materials offer a cost-effective and efficient alternative to many traditional and expensive options previously used in shoe manufacturing. The evolution of woven, nonwoven, and artificial leather fabrics has enabled their extensive application in nearly every part of footwear design. With ongoing innovations in material technology and a growing focus on sustainable production, the role of textiles in footwear is expected to expand further, driving continuous improvement and creativity in the industry.
