Food for the soul: Comparing dietary approaches to spiritual growth

Author(s): Shashi Shukla, Nitu Singh, Research Scholar and Supervisor
Abstract:
This review explores the role of food in spiritual growth across traditions. Food nourishes the body, mind, and soul, influencing personality, mental peace, and inner development. In Indian philosophy, diet is more than just food. It is one of the effective and important ways to boost physical health, mental clarity, and grow spiritually. According to Ayurveda and Yogic philosophy, what we eat affects our body and thoughts deeply. A good diet always keeps us strong, in all ways. Various other cultures see food in the same way. In our busy world today, we should mix old wisdom with new science and should create a diet that not only feeds the body but sharpens the mind, and supports spiritually and makes life better.
