Abstract:
Home Science, once seen as a domestic and gender-specific area of study, is undergoing a significant transformation into a vibrant academic and professional field. Traditionally associated with household management and women's education, the discipline has struggled with marginalization and gender stereotypes, which have overshadowed its intellectual and practical importance. This review underscores the advancement of Home Science as an interdisciplinary field that combines insights from nutrition, human development, textiles, resource management, community health, and public policy. By exploring recent literature, policy changes, and educational innovations, the paper demonstrates the importance of Home Science in tackling modern global challenges such as sustainability, health equity, digital transformation, and social entrepreneurship. The findings highlight that Home Science not only provides graduates with practical skills but also nurtures critical thinking, creativity, and social responsibility, preparing them to excel in various professional areas. The paper concludes with suggestions for promoting Home Science as an inclusive, skill-oriented, and socially impactful discipline that defies stereotypes and addresses the needs of a changing society.
