An ingenious approach through pattern engineering for arthritis impairment: Adaptive Clothing

Author(s): Anushree Jaisawal and Ekta Sharama
Abstract:
This paper examines the advantages of adaptive clothing for people with arthritis, the most recent developments in textile technology, and the effects on the general well-being of affected individuals Adaptive clothing is a sort of modified apparel designed to make dressing physically disabled individuals easier. Typically, adaptive apparel features rear-closure designs to make it easier for caregivers to dress a person. For instance, Velcro can be used for clothing closures in place of buttons and zippers. The idea that adaptive apparel is exclusively for wheelchair users is a prevalent fallacy. People of all ages who suffer from conditions like Multiple Sclerosis (MS), Motor Neurone Disease (MND), Stroke, Spinal Cord Injury (SCI), Brain Injury, Muscular Dystrophy (MD), Contractures, Arthritis, etc., can benefit from adaptive clothing. In colloquial terms, arthritis problems are joint pain or joint disease. There are over 100 types of arthritis and related conditions, and common symptoms of arthritis include swelling, pain, stiffness, and decreased range of motion. These symptoms can be mild, moderate, or severe, and they can occur for a short period of time or for a long time. Severe arthritis can cause chronic pain, make it difficult to walk or climb stairs, and sometimes cause problems with the hands or arms. Men and women of all ages experience a lot of joint problems (pain or movements of body parts) when wearing clothing. Many studies show that, adaptive garments give a smart solution and developed patient’s self-confidence. So, accordingly in this way this research work entitled “Adaptive Clothing: A Smart Solution for Arthritis Impairment” gives some design exploration for Adaptive clothing. The paper is broken up into three smaller portions. The introduction, keywords, literature review, and study objectives are the main topics of the first subsection. Research methodology, design exploration, and material will be covered in the second subsection. Data analysis, findings, and conclusions will be presented in the final subsection.
