Abstract: Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS) is a common endocrine disorder affecting women of reproductive age. This cross-sectional study aimed to investigate the prevalence of PCOS and analyse nutrient intake patterns among overweight and obese women in Jamshedpur, India. Methods: The study included 250 women aged 18-35 years with Body mass index more than or equal to 23 kg/m². The diagnosis of PCOS was based on established criteria. Nutrient intake was assessed and compared between PCOS and non-PCOS groups. Results: The prevalence of PCOS was 22.4% (56 out of250 participants). Nutrient intake analysis revealed no statistically significant differences between the PCOS and non-PCOS groups in term of protein, carbohydrate, iron, or zinc level. However, fiber intake was significantly lower in the PCOS group (28.02 gm vs. 28.21 gm; P=0.006). No significant association was found between high-carbohydrate intake and PCOS (P=0.379). Discussion: This study provides insights into the prevalence of PCOS and nutrient intake patterns among overweight and obese women in Jamshedpur. These findings highlight the need for further studies to elucidate the relationship between nutrient intake and PCOS in the Indian population. The limitations of this study include its cross-sectional design and the relatively small sample size. Word count: 2,958 words, excluding references.
