Effect of demographic variables on quality of life of women domestic workers in Kolkata

Author(s): Manasi Halder and Debomita Sikdar
Abstract:
This study investigates the quality of life among domestic workers in Kolkata, India, with a particular focus on the differences between resident and non-resident workers. The analysis reveals that demographic factors such as age, education, and income, along with the type of work performed and the number of working hours, significantly impact the quality of life for these workers. Resident domestic workers experience a different level of quality of life compared to non-resident workers. The findings highlight the need for interventions and policies to improve the working conditions, economic security, and overall well-being of domestic workers in Kolkata.
