There is a wide range of burkhas accessible in the market, and women are constantly seeking new patterns in burkhas. This study was conducted on Muslim women residing in Saharanpur, Uttar Pradesh, India. The objectives of the present research was to find out the preferences of Muslim women about burkha styles, and to utilize their choice for traditional Indian embroidery in creating Designer Burkha. The research was conducted in multiple stages. The first phase entailed conducting a market assessment of burkhas, focusing on different aspects like design, material, surface decoration, finishings, and price. The second stage included the preferences of 60 Muslim women, aged 20-50 years, from Saharanpur. The majority of women preferred to have burkhas with Phulkari embroidery. Hence the third stage involved product development of Burkha based on these findings. Following the creation of prototype, using Phulkari, the fourth stage consisted of evaluating the prototype with potential buyers. This evaluation revealed their strong interest and inclination for buying such Burkhas ornated with a traditional embroidery- Phulkari.
