Author(s): Varsha Gole and Dr. Pragati Desai
Abstract:
Objective: To evaluate the effectiveness of a digital tool (mb-health) educational intervention for pregnant women to prenatal monitoring.
Methods: A descriptive cross-sectional survey was carried out with two parallel groups (Control and intervention groups), conducted from July 2022 to February 2023. Data collection was carried out through a structured questionnaire at the second and end of the third trimester of pregnancy period. For analysis, Chi-Square test was calculated with the IBM SPSS Statistics version 26. The sample consisted of 150 pregnant women at Woman and Child Development Centers (under the ICDS program) in the Dewas (District) of Madhya Pradesh, India. Respondents were randomized into two groups: Control (CG) Intervention (IG), who used the mb-Health educational application, and, who attended prenatal consultations.
Results and Conclusion: The proportions of respondents in the control group who reported hemoglobin level were similar to those in the intervention group before health education (Pre-test). However, the proportions of hemoglobin level did not change among the control group after the health education (Post-test), as this group did not receive any health education.
