The purpose of this experimental research is to assess the impact of dietary supplements of spirulina on cardiovascular diseases. A total of 55 adults, of which were hyperlipidemics and 25 normolipidemics, obtained by physician referral in both Karnal and Panipat cities were selected for the study. Out of the selected thirty hyperlipidemics, fifteen were taken as experimental and rest as control group. Spirulina (1.6 g/d) in the form of capsule was given to experimental group for a period of 60 days and no supplementation was given to the control group. It was observed that Spirulina supplementation brought significant reduction in serum triglycerides, total cholesterol and VLDL-cholesterol of selected hyperlipidemics. Spirulina, earth’s super food has a versatile role in controlling cholesterol imbalance that occur in the body. Nevertheless spirulina supplementation had a positive impact on haemoglobin.
