Describe the various aspects of climate change, including temperature fluctuations, changes in precipitation patterns, and increased frequency of extreme weather events

Author(s): Ashalatha
Abstract:
Changes in precipitation patterns are another critical facet of climate change. Across different regions, shifts in rainfall and snowfall distribution have become evident. Some areas experience heightened precipitation, leading to more frequent and intense storms and floods. Conversely, others face prolonged droughts and decreased precipitation, posing challenges for agriculture, water availability, and ecosystem health. These shifts disrupt ecosystems, exacerbate water scarcity issues, and influence agricultural productivity, ultimately impacting food security and economic stability. Perhaps most visibly, the frequency and intensity of extreme weather events have increased. Hurricanes, heatwaves, wildfires, and floods are becoming more severe and frequent, driven by warmer oceans and altered atmospheric conditions. The economic and social costs of these events are substantial, affecting infrastructure, livelihoods, and public health. Reports from the IPCC and national climate assessments highlight the clear link between climate change and the intensification of extreme weather events, underscoring the urgent need for adaptation strategies and resilience-building efforts worldwide.
