Abstract:
Sincern21st century, the ‘green’ consumption of world has been continuously rising.rnThis has resulted in green fibres and the eco-textiles being seen as the developingrntrend of the textile industry. The new environmental plant fibres have lot ofrnscope for development. There is a need to save non-renewable energy andrnadequately employ the existing natural resources. This leads to exploration ofrnvarious unconventional sources for developing new plant fibres. This paperrnreviews various bast and leaf fibres which are being utilized in textilernapplications and research is still going on to improve them further forrnhigh-end applications. An attempt has been made to compile various aspectsrnrelated to fibre extraction, properties and their end applications
